The technician poured Clara's blood into the reclamation drain before anyone told her she had failed.
It ran down the side of a steel funnel in a dark red sheet. Then a rinse valve opened, and clear fluid carried the last of her sample into the pipes beneath First Hall.
Clara watched from the other side of the glass until the last trace of red vanished.
"You haven't run the readiness panel," she said.
The technician did not turn. "The review is complete."
